BITLUMENS: A Platform that help bring down CO2 emissions, foster gender equality and promote financial inclusion
We live in the time of successful formation and rapid growth of the block chain – based market. We see governments, banks, and corporations implementing block chain pilot projects, while independent users and investors are actively entering the crypto currency market. Surprisingly, all access points such as mining, exchanges, and funds remain largely available only to select professionals. What the Existing equipment and Service systems fail to do is to solve the user tasks.
The energy sector present major challenges to meet energy requirements, some countries rely on fossil fuels to meet energy demand. Price volatility, fossil fuel shortages, governmental regulations on fossil fuel prices, geopoliti-cal settings, power outages and climate change mitigation, large number of people without electricity. Bitlumens introduce a megatrends which helps in increasingly cheaper solar panels, growing mobile phone penetration (SIM cards) and high energy spending on inefficient fuel sources are some of the variables taking into account to model off grid energy solutions. With the Bitlumens Project, people can use electricity, charge their electrical appliances and even water their crops. Before i proceed in this work lets take a look at the video below.......

INTRODUCTION
According to the World Energy Outlook, 1.2 billion people don’t have access to electricity while 2.7 billion don’t have access to clean cooking. Only a small portion of rural inhabitants have access to electrification . Most of them depend on inefficient and hazardous fuels, such as biomass, kerosene, plastic, battery torches and candles. Fuels and its combustion process contribute to the release of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Among those fuels, kerosene is a source of CO2 and black carbon. Black carbon or soot, a particulate matter (PM) resides only a few days or weeks until a natural phenomenon called coagulation happens, where cloud droplets and aerosol particles attract each other. This phenomenon helps to clean the atmosphere by flushing out aerosol particles. Hence, replacing all kerosene lamps worldwide with solar lights could serve as short-term action to reduce global warming. A single kerosene lamp emits over 100 kg of CO2per year when used four hours a day.
Globally, burning kerosene for lighting generated 240 million tons of CO2 equivalent a year, around 0.5% of global emissions. In fact, just kerosene lamps replaced in Africa and Asia with solar panels saved 1.4 million tons of CO2 equivalent in 2014 alone. Moreover, on a general basis burning 20 kg wood during one day emits about 200 grams of PM2.5, this equals smoking 10,000 cigarettes. The energy sector in Latin America and many other developing regions present major challenges to meet energy requirements. In fact, some of these countries rely on fossil fuels to meet energy demand. Price volatility, fossil fuel shortages, governmental regulations on fossil fuel prices, geopolitical settings, power outages and climate change mitigation are major key variables that need to be considered to address energy security.
BITLUMENS
BitLumens is a non-conventional-renewable-energy solution using wind and solar to address power reliability and water access in developing markets. BitLumens will provide women farmers with a credit score after they had paid for their solar home systems using a pay as you go structure.
BitLumens distributes solar power devices in areas without a power-grid and connects them to the blockchain. By using the devices, people build up credit scores. Banks can access the data by using BitLumens own token BLS and use it to issue microcredits to those who urgently need them. Bitlumens brings power and water to women farmers in developing countries leveraging on Internet of Things (IoT) and the Blockchain. It provides decentralized power solutions to off grid communities.
MISSION OF BITLUMENS
Our mission is to offer a peer to peer platform where users adopt off grid Solar systems to reduce carbon emissions and get access to lighting and water in places where there is no power grid. Our platform allows the leasing of Solar Home Systems (SHS) to be done through installments denominated in Bitlumens Tokens (BLS). We provide solar energy to remote villages and in consequence reduce CO2 and health hazards. We replace the use of kerosene lamps, diesel, plastic, biomass and bio-fuels for lighting and irrigation purposes with solar technologies. This allows farmers to reduce their costs and increase their savings while proliferating financial inclusion and in some cases providing employment. Our digital platform aims at offering distributed, managed by consensus and off grid smart energy solutions in low resource households. Our platform contributes to the UN SDGs, in particular with; Affordable and Clean Energy, Sustainable Cities and Communities, Good Health and Well-being, Gender Equality and Climate Action.
Bitlumens mission is to provide options to rural communities to displace kerosene, wood or plastic-dependent households and give immediate access to cleaner, safer, and affordable energy in Latin America.
GOAL
Our goal is to create a positive measurable social and environmental impact
FEATURES OF BITLUMENS
DATA
The devices form microgrids in places with no existing infrastructure. Our innovative software collects data and sends it to the blockchain. People can decide to make this data available to banks for microcredits and other financial services. Banks will gain access to over one billion people in need of a bank account.
POWER GENERATION
The devices produce clean, zero-emission electricity and have an immediate impact on the quality of people's lives. In the future, the devices can be interconnected to form micro power-grids in places without electricity, allowing people to trade energy within their communities.
SECURITY
The devices can be locked when users get in arrears with their monthly installments. This provides the necessary security for issuing micro-credits. On the other hand, users have full control over their data. Only they decide who can access and use it.
ADVANTAGES OF BITLUMENS
Affordable access to safe, environmentally friendly and reliable electricity.
Access to microloans and other financial services for billions of unbanked people.
Avoid expensive remittance fees usually charged for micro-lending.
Every token represents a portfolio of microloans collateralized by our hardware.
Contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
BITLUMENS PLATFORM
We have developed a Software as a Service (SaaS) which is accessible through BitLumens platform. Banks, governments, utilities and other entities can use it to get access to a variety of data points collected by BitLumens solar power devices and by our agents: KYC information, digital IDs, credit score records, carbon mitigation, the energy produced and consumed as well as the location of the device. All personal data is owned by the users and kept safe and private until they decide to make it available.
Through the data collected, investors can visualize the location of the hardware, the amount of power produced and the credit score of the borrower, giving them full transparency of their investment and its impact in remote places.
BITLUMENS TOKEN
The Bitlumens token is an ERC20 token based on the Ethereum blockchain. It does not represent equity in the company. Since every participant in BitLumens ecosystem will need to buy BLS from the open market, the demand for BLS will increase as the business scales. To access and use BitLumens software, BLS tokens are needed. The tokens serve multiple purposes:
Villagers need them to pay the installments of their solar power device
Banks need them to access the BitLumens SaaS (Software as a Service),
Family members use the tokens to send remittances.
Since most villagers do not have internet access to pay digitally their Solar Home Systems, BitLumens employs agents who will collect the payments in cash and buy a corresponding amount of BLS tokens from the open market. The BLS will then be uniquely associated with the solar power device.
BENEFIT/USES OF BITLUMENS TOKEN
Bitlumens tokens are required to access the credit score data of the 1.2 billion people who don’t have access to electricity and a bank account.
Villagers use Bitlumens tokens to pay for electricity.
BLS tokens are used to send remittances.
Carbon mitigation is verified using IoT and will be tokenized at a later stage.
Whoever needs Bitlumens tokens to access BitLumens services will have to buy them from the open market.
BITLUMENS, BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGY AND IOT
Blockchain Bitlumens uses a combination of offline and offline data sources to calculate the credit score of ready-to-use farmers: digital IDs are not part of the blockchain but will be centralized. Each user can have his own ID and credit history. This information can be shared with third parties offering microcredit solutions, governments and development banks. Users can access microloans by paying a specific interest rate based on personal and behavioral variables.
The main idea of the company is to bring a user and eco-friendly internet of things device to bring energy and water to places which are unbanked and do not have a power grid. The company will use the app to collect information about the consumption of each client and know how much to charge for each one of the team. The company plans to use clean technologies to provide to rural communities which need to use kerosene, plastic, battery torches and candles as they do not have access to electric power. By using these devices, these people would have a way to improve their businesses and their quality of life. The company’s technology powered by both the blockchain technology and the internet of things will make it possible for people to use electricity, charge their electrical appliances and even water their crops.
